A group of students interested in tech got together for a local trek on January 27th and visited HQ Raleigh and Pendo. HQ Raleigh is a startup incubator with a non-traditional, yet also very traditional, business model. The company charges rent to its startups and doesn’t take any equity. With over 100 startups served by HQ Raleigh, the company is about to expand. Students spoke with three panelists about their experiences. These panelists were from very different companies, including a raw bar (Raleigh Raw), a VC firm (Mulartu?), and a partnership that has developed software to analyze business opportunities geographically (Vision LTC).
After HQ Raleigh, the group visited Pendo, a java-based platform service that helps user experience and has been proven to help software-as-a-service companies retain high dollar clients. Pendo raised $20 million in December Series B funding and shows remarkable growth year-over-year. The company’s CEO, Todd Olson, spoke to the group and guided them through the series B presentation.
Finally, the techies went to Vivendi, a local chocolate company, to learn about the business… and eat delicious chocolates.
